چکیده

Substantial interaction was observed in 3 inbred strains of mice maintained on 5 normal commercial pelleted diets. Strain 0 to.OR was most sensitive to the unknown dietary factor, and the ranking of 0 tO.BR and A2G was reversed across the array of diets, There was no apparent relationship between the 'biological' value of the diet and 21 dietary ingredients determined chemically, The study shows that the diet which gives the best performance for one strain of mice may not be the best for another.

Polymorphisms in GDF9 Gene and Its Relationship with Litter Size in Five Breeds of Black Goats

In this study, we investigated the relationship between the genetic polymorphism of growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) genes and the litter size in 384 individuals of five breeds of black goats. Four pairs of primers were designed to detect single nucleotide polymorphism of GDF9 gene in goats by PCR-SSCP. The least square was used to analyze the relation between different genotypes and the ...

Diet effects on female reproduction in high growth (hg/hg) mice that are deficient in the Socs-2 gene.

The detrimental effect of larger body size on reproductive performance has been well documented in mouse models of overgrowth, such as Growth Hormone (GH) transgenics. This study describes the reproductive performance of the High Growth (HG) mouse model of overgrowth. The HG mouse model exhibits overgrowth due to a partially recessive autosomal mutation that increases growth rate and mature bod...

Polymorphism of the Melatonin Receptor 1A Gene and Its Association with Litter Size in Zel and Naeini Sheep Breeds

The influence of melatonin receptor 1A gene on litter size was studied in 150 ewes from Zel (n=100) and Naeini (n=50) sheep breeds. Two restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analyses were done to determine all genotypes occurring by variations at MnlI and RsaI restriction sites. The M and C were the most frequent alleles in both of these breeds. The MM genotype was predominant in Zel ...

Impacts of an endophyte-infected fescue seed diet on traits of mouse lines divergently selected for response to that same diet.

In previous work, mouse lines were selected for eight generations for resistance (R) or susceptibility (S) to endophyte-infected fescue toxicosis using depression in postweaning gain caused by a toxin-containing diet as the selection criterion. Characterizing biological changes associated with resistance or susceptibility in those mice might suggest genetic or therapeutic approaches to alleviat...

Dietary carbohydrate solubility influences dam and litter liveweight changes over lactation in a highly fecund inbred strain of mice, the QSi5

The solubility of carbohydrates or glycaemic index (GI) determines the kinetics of glucose processing and tissue accumulation and is important in maintaining euglycaemia. We are interested in factors defining lactational potential of a Quackenbush–Swiss mouse strain, inbred and selected for fecundity for 50 generations. Thus the impact of energy availability on changes in growth of suckling pup...
